Computer equipment is always changing and there's one bit of hardware I really like. Not long ago the USB standard enhanced to become 3.0 which has changed things for a lot of portable devices. Today I love portable file storage and being able to move around my computer files very easily. This is why I'm a big fan of the USB 3.0 flash drive devices and I own so many of them. I've used a few older versions for many years and now I've got even faster ones.

I use a USB flash drive a lot for work to backup my important files. I use these for my personal life to store my audio and videos on when I'm shifting them between my personal laptop and my TV. I can't think of anyone I know that doesn't know what a USB flash drive is.

The problem with the older models is they were too slow. These were fine to use for tiny files and started to be very popular for that. However for larger files the transfer speeds were too slow which is why individuals started using external hard drives instead. Yet a USB 3.0 flash drive is a lot more easily transportable than an external hard drive now they can be just as good for read/write speeds.

As well as becoming quicker they can now retain a lot more files. Not too long ago all flash drives were small, and slow. Now they are often fast and save as many files as most of the external hard disk drives. They're small enough keep these things in your pocket in your keyring.

Some USB flash drives are just that small that you can not notice them plugged into the computer. I know my brother use's his USB 3.0 flash drive to bring his reports and games directly into college and his tutor doesn't notice the flash drive.
