An HTC Screen Protector does not cover the whole face of the EVO, nor are they an specifically perfect fit for the screen. It will have an extremely small "border" around the display screen, though this can be lessened if you position the guard properly. Because the protector is only for the display screen, the EVO's face is just not completely smooth. There is definitely no reason at all to run your fingers across the entire length of the phone, but if you ever opt to do it, you will run into the extra edge of the guard. Another issue is dirt, that will get stuck alongside of the guard and of course be very obvious since it will essentially develop a white frame around the display screen.

The HTC EVO 4G's hard glass display screen is already long lasting and resistant to scratches, but those who want to protect it anyway can pick up a pack of official screen guards being sold at some depots for a great price. Each pack includes one anti-glare and two clear screen covers, which is quite the deal given that some companies demand a similar price for just one EVO screen guard. Screen guards are constructed with thick firm plastic that stays stiff when taken off their backing; they are not those horrible flimsy guards that fold over and get stuck to themselves. The anti-glare guard has a soft finish to it, while the clear one is smooth and feels almost just like the EVO's bare screen.

Since the protectors are so stiff, they are a snap to install, remove and reposition. They lay over the display screen very quickly and simply; you do not need to use one of those little cards to press out air bubbles and smooth wrinkles as you along. These screen guards can be applied to the EVO in one fell swoop. Air bubbles will appear if anything gets stuck to the adhesive side or trapped between the screen and guard, but you can eliminate dust and debris with a piece of tape so it is no big deal.

Screen protectors work as promoted: the clear guard is extremely clear and the anti-glare protector reduces glare. The clear guard is used to the top half of the screen. As you can see, it is very clear. There is really no discernible distinction in the clearness of the screen with or without the protector on it. Likewise, the anti-glare guard does a fine job at reducing glare.

HTC screen protector for the EVO 4G is affordable, simple to apply, and do what they are meant to do very well. But they tend not to shield the entire face of the handset, dust and lint will collect along the sides, and each guard features a trade-off (clarity or reflectiveness). Some of the packages of Screen Protector contain three protectors rather than two. There is definitely a reason you get three guards for the price of what some companies charge for just one.
